Blim and Jeremy Isao Speier present:
FLIM (film event)
Friday November 28 | Door: 8 PM | | Show: 8:15 PM | By donation
Curated by: Jeremy Isao Speier
Featuring: Oratory [2005] by Jeremy Isao Speier
Rationale:
The Oratory is a Bacchanalian vision of witty scenarios filled with irony and indifference. The film explores mythological symbolism and aesthetic form. Oratory is a socio-historical realization of a time space divorced from solidity. The Oratory is an art historical study of hedonism, and reveals double-entendre meanings in a series of clever puns. The film is a juxtaposition to the Apollonian state of solidity which is present in twentieth century Western culture. The Dionysian proposes a new reality where the film darkly brings these ironies to our attention.
The Oratory is loosely adapted from Euripides Plays around the period of 484–406 B.C.
