FLIM films curated by Christopher Olson: 8 PM, Friday January 30
Christopher Olson became fascinated with the idea of “the secret project”: that artists who work primarily in one or two mediums may work in other ones, but keep it quiet. Along with an ongoing critical writing practice, he works primarily in photo and text-based work, but also creates collage, draws and plays with sound. For this exhibit, he’ll be showing various works on paper created over the last while.
Christopher Olson is a frequent contributor to Border Crossings, Vancouver Review, Color and Discorder, and his visual work has appeared in Front, Pyramid Power and online at tinyvices.com. He also co-curates Standard Grey Editions, a small-run 3″ CD-R label alongside local improvisor/reed player Shane Krause.
He recently had a solo photo show at Plank Gallery, and has participated in group shows at the Or Gallery (Ear to Ear), Centre A (China Earthquake Relief Fundraiser), Helen Pitt (Leave Room for the Holy Spirit), along with Platform, (Winnipeg) and Headbones Drawers (Toronto). He’s currently working on a group show at Shudder, a web-based project for Helen Pitt and a photo-book of his recent trip to Japan.
