In order to create these pictures Christine Gibson uses the blotted-line technique that Andy Warhol favoured early on in his career. During this time Warhol’s work involved a lot of commercial graphic design for print publications. Though he enjoyed making drawings he always wanted his lines to have a more dynamic look For this reason he employed the blotted-line technique. Throughout his life Warhol maintained a strong interest in celebrity culture. Later on in his career he was commissioned to create a number of portraits for celebrities and socialites. Christine Gibson has used a number of these portraits for inspiration in creating this exhibition.
