Gunshae is what happens when a classically trained musician and a notorious DJ with a penchant for improvising and have them jam on the sound of stuff and things. It’s molten woodwinds and Satie references. It’s a heavy drone played by a band sitting on the veranda with a mint julep.
A mashup of jungle, hip-hop, eardrum bursting feedback and a healthy does of psychedelia, holzkopf uses broken machinery and homemade synthesizers to churn out this hellish cacophony as much influenced by beats, cuts and scratches as by total noise. He’s also just as cute as a bunny.
When you hold your hand like a wing out of the car window and drive really fast, but then you remember that you’re the driver, and all of a sudden you snap back to the task of driving, but it’s too late. You’re in the on coming lane. That’s coin gutter.
