Daniel Mackenzie Karrasch is a vancouver based musician, improvisor and classical guitarist; focused on the powers, both subtle and extreme, of live improvisation—seeking to synthesize the determinate with the indeterminate, the character with the setting.
Nic Brown (Video Marsh) has created videos for Caribou, Clues and Crystal Castles. Interested in the way that a moving image could influence improvised music, Dan asked Nic to create a 30 minute video for him to interact with in a live musical context. Equally interested in this concept, he complied, but will be keeping the video hidden from Dan until the night of the show. Nic describes it as “A video anomaly that I don’t fully understand”. The results should be interesting.
