Blim and Blim Special Guest Workshop present:

Blim Guest Series—Quilt Making Workshop

Saturday October 31 | 2 – 6 PM | $60 (incl. materials)
Featuring: Leah Weinstein

Join textile artist and teacher Leah Weinstein in this hands on quilting workshop using machine appliqué techniques. Each participant will create a 20″ × 20″ wall-hanging or cushion cover top.

Topics covered:

  • quilting materials and tools
  • drawing an image onto fabric
  • basting, cutting and ironing
  • sewing, quilting and binding

Fabric, batting, and thread are provided. You are welcome to bring your own special fabrics that may be incorporated into your quilt if you like. No experience necessary. Bring your own sewing machine.

Leah Weinstein is Nelson based textile artist working primarily with quilts. Leah received her Diploma in Fine Art from Emily Carr Institute of Art + Design in 2001, and her BFA in 2008. After making her first quilt in 2001, quilts quickly became the focus of her work. Leah’s extensive travels eventually became her self-directed textile studies, which led her to study natural dyes and organic cotton in India with the company she co-founded, Tenfold Organic Textiles. Leah now works in her home studio and teaches quilting workshops around BC. Her website can be visited at www.leahweinstein.com
