The woods have always held a primal, timeless quality. A mysticism. Algonquin park was chosen as a loose subject for this show as it was influential growing up. A national park, a place where people could visit but not live, it held my imagination. Fascinated by peoples fascination with nature as a primal, almost mystic realm, this piece explores the cultural connection between nature and magic centering loosely on a connection to a certain geography.
Helen Eady is an artist, illustrator and graphic designer based out of Vancouver BC. She received her BFA from the University of British Columbia, and has shown her work in Canada and abroad.
Since childhood Helen has taken a strong interest in artifact and natural history which led to a natural focus on museum studies, anthropology and art history in her university studies. These interests can be seen in her work which is also heavily influenced by her rural upbringing. Nature, mysticism, and pop culture meet in her work in an exploration of the intersection of culture and nature.
