Nekaa Lab

Saturday July 24 | 8 – 11 PM | $10 (no pre-sales)

Featuring: Sachiyo Takahashi

Nekaa Lab / Sachiyo Takahashi will present a new production, The Nekaa Room: Galaxy Green, on July 24, 2010, at Blim. It is the fourth piece in the The Nekaa Room / Microscopic Live Cinema-Theatre series where miniature worlds are magnified by projection onto the big screen. In a world populated by figurines and plush toys, a loose, fairytale narrative unfolds among abstract sound and visuals, creating a dream-like experience.

The Sheep, a major character in previous productions, returns in The Nekaa Room: Galaxy Green searching for a place to call Home.

Come follow the Sheep’s journey in The Nekaa Room live!

Sachiyo Takahashi is a Japanese contemporary artist who blurs the boundaries of theatrical performance, film and art exhibition. With background in contemporary theatre and electroacoustic music, she fine tunes images and sound to create odd yet intimate abstract narratives. Physical “play” is an important aspect in her work: her pieces often include the performer’s presence while also incorporating audience participation.

Since 2006 Sachiyo has been exploring storytelling in Microscopic Live Cinema-Theatre where she uses a miniature stage and props that are magnified through live video projection.

Sachiyo has presented her work in Europe, Japan, the US and Canada. She currently lives in Vancouver.
