Featuring: Emi Honda / Jordon McKenzie / the Great Giffoni / and Wurld film screening

“Emi Honda and Jordan McKenzie began Elfin Saddle after moving east across Canada from Vancouver Island to Montreal… their take on acoustic folk is charged with myth, mysticism, anarchism, and a love of wilderness…the alertness and drive of their luminous songs actually sounds electrified, but it’s not—they’ve prefigured a time in the post-apocalyptic future, after the machines of civilization have ground to a halt and the remaining humans will have to make their music without plugging in.” -WZRD Chicago

Wurld is the product of a year’s work tending a small outdoor garden plot with a variety of plants, a video camera and an old shed filled with found materials. The film loosely follows the course of human advancement: primordial forest becomes neolithic village, medieval kingdom becomes industrial city, with the development continuing to the present-day. Miniature societies build themselves with the aid of stop-motion animation techniques, while the surrounding landscape changes and grows, documented with time-lapse photography. The film features an original Elfin Saddle soundtrack and is 23 minutes long. Wurld premiered at the Viennale International Film Festival in Vienna, November 2009.
