Blim and Blim Special Guest Workshop present:

Blim Guest Series—Cyanotype Workshop

Sunday October 10 | 1 – 4 PM | $60 (incl. materials)
Featuring: Kimberly Simpson

Explore the photographic printing process of Cyanotypes!

Discovered in 1842 by astronomer Sir John Hershel and brought into photography by Anna Atkins who created cyanotype books documenting ferns and other plant life. Cyanotype printing was popularized by engineers who used the process to create blueprints.

Combine Cyanotype printing’s historical uses with the your own imagery to create awesome one-off original artwork or clothing in this new workshop from Blim.

Learn to paint this photo-sensitive chemical onto watercolour paper, canvas or cotton fabric, then place your leaves, flowers, semi-transparent objects or drawn/photographic image on transparency and expose in the sun (or our fake sun) to create beautiful cyan-blue prints.

Acetate for drawing on and watercolour paper for printing will be provided. Bring your own plant life, line drawings, text, image on disc or transparency or e-mail us a jpeg info@blim.ca or choose to draw free style, it’s up to you.
If you want to print on fabric…Bring your own light coloured cotton clothing to print on.
