Blim presents:

Pure Psychic Automatism

Saturday November 6 | 8 PM – 12 AM | $8–10 sliding scale

Featuring: Miki Watanabe and Shizen Jambor

Pure Psychic Automatism is an artistic phenomena, an experience, to befall Blim on the 6th of November. Featuring the works of local Vancouver artists Shizen Jambor and Miki Watanabe, who invite you to don a masque, and check reality at the door. It will be an eve of radtastic opulence with painting and sculpture, DJs, a cash bar, and an air of psychedelic wonder that’ll leave you musing the mystery… With Kuma bringing the heavy bass(dubstep! drumstep! breakcore!) for you to mosh out to all night whilst pondering the art.

Miki breathes beauty, using her canvas and paint as the context to manifest the esoteric necessities of life. Neo expressionist paintings are cultivated with figurative forms, to pull one by the heartstrings into parallel and perpendicular dimensions. This has been going on since as long as she can remember, and the results have been displayed at the Goods off Main, The Canadian Flowers for Food Society Art Gala at Gallery Gachet, Anarcho Junk at Zoo Zhop (a two person show in which she curated, exhibited and was the creative director) and her latest two person show, Pure Psychic Automatism.

Shizen paints, draws, sculpts and performs. She does these things with the intention of making the world just a bit more mysterious and gut tickling. Her art is often an expression of what amuses, arouses, enrages, delights and disgusts her. She loves discovering magic in the everyday and giving others an irregular experience.
