What we choose to keep becomes an assemblage of our personal history; a catalogue of our life experience, both private and shared. Just as larger histories are rewritten into shifting popular narratives, we edit and reconfigure a selective memory of ourselves.
These acts of revising and restoring memories through our mementos—letters, diaries, childhood tokens, and photos—provide us with threads that reach back to act as references. Knowing who and/or where we are is contingent upon those associations. We exist in relation to the myriad landscape of other, even seemingly mundane, objects, places, or times.
