Lino Block Printing

Sunday September 18 | 1 – 4 PM | $65
Featuring: Jackie Klobucar

Learn the art of surface design through block printing. In this workshop you will learn 3 different ways to block print. We will explore design techniques like pattern, negative space, texture and colour. The class will start by using found objects to experiment with pattern, then we will work our way up to creating our own woodblock stamps. Finally we will be using Speedy Cut and our cutting tools to create one-of-a-kind images. Design anything from t-shirts to bags to birthday cards or create unique works of art. Block printing can be a quick and easy way to spruce up plain old fabrics or it can be a way to create thoughtful and artistic pieces to be framed and mounted. Either way you can showcase your creativity by learning this simple and fun technique.

Jackie Klobucar is a musician, comic artist and arts and crafter living in Vancouver, B.C. She graduated from the Textile Arts program at Capilano University in 2005 and continues to apply the many surface design techniques she learned to anything from handmade clothes to robot pillows! She is the creator of a mini comic called Little Dominoes and is an active member in the local comic and zine community. Currently her band, Korean Gut, is busy with tours, recording and playing lots of local gigs. When she’s not doing all these things she enjoys watching scary movies, wearing costumes and playing with puppets.
